L'HISTOIRE DE BABAR for Piano Four Hands and Narrator (2007)
(excerpt #8)
L’Histoire de Babar for piano solo by Francis Poulenc is the music intended for children, yet it is highly sophisticated, meticulous and intriguing. It is an honor to transcribe this beautiful music for piano four hands.
My L'HISTOIRE DE BABAR was commissioned by a renowned French pianist Pascal Rogé, recipient of many prestigious awards including two Gramophone Awards, a Grand Prix du Disque and an Edison award. Pascal Rogé is an extraordinary pianist with elegance, grace, passion and intelligence. L'HISTOIRE DE BABAR for Piano Four Hands is dedicated to Pascal Rogé and Ami Hakuno Rogé. I am honored to collaborate with these great pianists.
The premiere performance was in London, England on Saturday May 19, 2007 by Pascal Rogé and Ami Hakuno Rogé. It was subsequently performed in Italy, Japan, United States, Australia and others.
