"Lee's "Rapid Fire" lives up to its title; it's a scintillating piece, full of sound and fury from its first drum roll and string fanfare that ascends with swirling notes punctuated by the beat of timpani and percussion. The ever-quickening pace takes on the sounds of city traffic with clashing cymbals, vibrant xylophone and whistles amid the shrill accelerating violins. With its staccato cacophony and stridence, the overture is certainly an immediate attention getter, over almost before it begins."
- James F. Cotter, Times Herald-Record, NY on March 16, 2011
"After intermission Lee’s “Rapid Fire” started the night’s second half of the program. Generating the busy noise of today’s’ fast life style, the work was a melting pot of unyielding sound, deeply harmonizing with so much of our daily lives. Music Director and Conductor Kypros Markou had the symphony play the four-minute work twice, giving patrons a double dose of the contemporary fix. On hand, Lee, the Korean-American New York resident and composer, gave a quick wave and humble bow after his work." - Phyllis, Times-Herald Newspapers, Dearborn, MI on April 12, 2013

"... Paul Yeon Lee, who earned a Michigan doctorate and contributed the debut piece, “Nocturne,” for a percussion orchestra of nine players, most of them engaged creatively with keyboard instruments, a collection of xylophones, vibraphones and marimbas. Lee put together an aural adventure that stressed atmospheres rather than just noise." - Peter Jacobi, The Herald-Times in Bloominton, IN on April 11, 2007
